Who hires us for this

Founders who outgrew their bookkeeper

You hired a part-time bookkeeper when you started, and they were fine at the beginning. But now the books feel inconsistent, unexplained items remain in the trial balance, and the reports no longer fully tie together. You need a more reliable financial setup.

Founders running multiple entities

You operate a Canadian main entity alongside a foreign holding company or subsidiary. Your current bookkeeper handles basic single-entity work well, but consolidations become difficult and intercompany transactions are increasingly hard to manage properly.

Founders preparing for fundraise or audit

You are preparing for a Series A, Series B, or your first audit. The numbers need to stay clean, documentation must hold up during diligence, and you need someone experienced to build a proper financial foundation before the process begins.

Founders operating across multiple jurisdictions.

Your business operates across multiple countries with transactions happening in different currencies. While your current accountant manages basic bookkeeping, they struggle with consolidations, FX revaluation, and maintaining proper cross-border financial discipline.

What's included in a monthly engagement

Transaction processing

  • Bank account reconciliations (all accounts, all currencies)
  • Credit card and merchant account reconciliations
  • Categorization and coding of all transactions
  • Vendor bill processing (when in scope)
  • Customer invoice processing (when in scope)

Monthly close

  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Depreciation and amortization schedules
  • Inventory adjustments (where applicable)
  • Trial balance review and clearing of suspense items
  • Journal entries with documentation

Reporting

  • Monthly P&L (vs. budget if provided)
  • Monthly balance sheet
  • Monthly cash flow statement
  • Brief management commentary on key variances

Review and sign-off

  • CPA Ontario member review on every close package
  • Documented working papers retained for 7 years
  • Year-end binder ready for your tax accountant or auditor

What's not included

We're a non-assurance firm. The following are not part of bookkeeping engagements:

  • Audit, review, or compilation engagements (we're not an audit firm)
  • Investment advisory or wealth management
  • Insolvency or restructuring
  • Forensic accounting or litigation support

For these, we'll refer you to specialist firms in your jurisdiction.

Software we work in

  • Xero — primary platform for most engagements under CAD $5M revenue
  • QuickBooks Online — for Canadian small businesses suited to the software
  • NetSuite — for multi-entity, multi-currency businesses above CAD $10M
  • Sage Intacct — for SaaS businesses with complex revenue recognition needs
  • Specialized integrations: A2X, Plaid, Wise, Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce

Software-first decision: If you don't already use accounting software — or you're using something we don't support (Wave, FreshBooks, Zoho Books) — we are flexible and are able to adapt to your new software.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the team based?

The principal — me — is Canadian, CPA Ontario, and based in Karachi. The delivery team is based in Karachi: ACCA finalists and Pakistani Chartered Accountants trained on Western standards. All work is reviewed by a CPA Ontario member before it leaves the firm.

Do you handle audit?

No — we're a non-assurance firm. We do not perform audits or reviews. We do prepare you for an audit conducted by an external audit firm — we'll have your documentation, schedules, and account analyses ready when your auditors arrive.

Can you process vendor payments?

Yes — but with an important constraint: we never receive client funds personally. We work via authorized access to your own bank account. You retain banking credentials; we initiate payments directly from your account, with documentation. This protects you and keeps us out of the trust-account regulatory perimeter.

What if we use software you don't list?

Talk to us. We can work in less common platforms too (Sage 50, Microsoft Dynamics).

What's the minimum engagement length?

We work on month-to-month engagements with a 30-day notice period either way. We don't lock founders into annual contracts. If we're not the right fit, we'll part ways cleanly.

What's the discovery call like?

30 minutes on Zoom. We talk through your current setup, what's not working, and what you actually need. No pitch deck, no sales playbook. By the end, you know whether we're a fit. If we're not, we'll tell you who is.

Ready to clean up the books?

Book a 30-minute discovery call. We'll figure out what you actually need.
